Hatha joga se sastoji od asana (zauzimanje određenog položaja tijela) i pranajame (kontrolisanog disanja)

Redovnim upražnjavanjem joge dobijaju se dugi, elastični, otporni, jaki i ekonomični mišići. Pranajama je voljni prekid toka udaha i izdaha, pri čemu se insistira na disanju punim plućima. Ogroman broj ljudi (preko 70%, naročito žene), dišu plitko, tj. koriste samo gornju trećinu pluća. Plitko disanje uzrokuje smanjeno unošenje kiseonika što dovodi do toga da naš organizam ne ostvaruje do kraja svoje potencijale. Hatha joga jača kompletan organizam i dovodi njegov rad do savršenstva.
